National Security of a Democratic State after the Collapse of a Bipolar World – Security of the State vs the Security of Citizens

Abstract
In the times of bipolar world states, especially the Eastern bloc countries, countries were concentrated mainly on the survival of a state (as a political entity), which was connected with nuclear weapons and the concept of mutually assured destruction. After the end of a bipolar world, national security is not only connected with military aspects but also with providing welfare in soft power categories. The aim of the article is to show how the concept of providing national security has changed and to characterize key processes which had an impact on the understanding of national security (such as globalization and information society).
