NATURE ELEMENTS IMAGES IN THE NOVEL OF F.M. DOSTOEVSKY «CRIME AND PUNISHMENT»

Abstract
This article is devoted to the subject of the fire, water, earth and air nature elements in the novel of F.M. Dostoevsky – “Crime and Punishment”. It describes the role of nature images in this novel and their functions. This article also expands the topic of using individual symbolic images with a “nature element” semantic component. For example, the images of the sun and its rays are vital for the fire element, while the image of wet snow is a key component of the water element. The images of the earth and air elements manifest the importance of the repentance motive. This novel is one of the most striking examples of the embodiment of the nature images functions in the works of F.M. Dostoevsky, where each element is individually marked and is shown in its entirety.
