Abstract
The paper explores critical appraisals of obscure academic discourse, given by linguists of various times and nations. Researchers often mention misuse of terms and loanwords, excess of too long sentences, vagueness and poverty of style. Their appraisals testify that academese is really pending problem for academic communication.
