ADVANTAGES OF WAX-UP TECHNIQUES IN TRACING OF OBJECTIVE OF DENTAL TREATMENTS
Journal Title: Journal MEDICINA STOMATOLOGIĂ - Year 2013, Vol 70, Issue 3
Abstract
There were 10 patients examined completely (4 males, 6 females), aged between 22-45, with partial edentations with coexistent spatial problems. Aesthetical evaluation forms were made, where the aesthetical deviations were systematized. The occlusal clinical exam, as well as the custom dental moulds mounted in the adaptable articulator “Reference”, have made possible the evaluation of the necessity of rehabilitation, using modified occlusal scheme. Afterwards, using a special wax, the future restorations were designed, using the principles of optical illusion creation in the space-lacking zones. The modeling of the occlusal surfaces was made using special techniques, following Slavicek’s occlusal concept. Thus, a simulation of the resulting treatment was obtained. The analysis of the diagnostic wax modeling served as a mean of communication between doctor, patient and dental technician, as well as for identifying possible issues, which could have happened during the treatment.
