Antioxidant responses of alhagipseudalhagi (bieb.) in conditions of chronic γ- radiation exposure at different development plant phases
Journal Title: Scientia Agriculturae - Year 2016, Vol 13, Issue 2
Abstract
In this paper were investigated activities of enzymatic antioxidant defense system in Alhagipseudalhagi(Bieb.) grown under conditions of chronic γ – radiation exposure. Studies were carried out in different phases of plant development. It has been shown that some enzymes play an important role in protecting the plants against the harmful effects of radiation. Established that аscorbate peroxidase and superoxide dismutase in this case do not give the significant contribution to the protection of plants from chronic exposure to radiation. There was a slight decrease in the activity of ascorbate peroxidase and superoxide dismutase. However activity of catalase has increased significantly.Such dynamicsmay indicate amoreeffective participation ofone enzymein a protectiveresponsethanthe other. It should also to assume that in unfavorable conditions very low SOD activity which we observed could be compensated by the very high activity of catalase.
