Cloning and expression of gene encoding P23 protein from Cryptosporidium parvum
Journal Title: Journal of BioScience and Biotechnology - Year 2014, Vol 3, Issue 3
Abstract
We cloned the cp23 gene coding P23 (glyco)protein from Cryptosporidium parvum isolated from Thua Thien Hue province, Vietnam. The coding region of cp23 gene from C. parvum is 99% similar with cp23 gene deposited in NCBI (accession number: U34390). SDS-PAGE and Western blot analysis showed that the cp23 gene in E. coli BL21 StarTM (DE3) produced polypeptides with molecular weights of approximately 37, 40 and 49 kDa. These molecules may be non-glycosylated or glycosylated P23 fusion polypeptides. Recombinant P23 protein purified by GST (glutathione S-transferase) affinity chromatography can be used as an antigen for C. parvum antibody production as well as to develop diagnostic kit for C. parvum.

Evaluation of the effects of bitter yam tuber supplementation on serum parameters used to assess hepatotoxicity and nephrotoxicity in transgenic mice
The Jamaican bitter yam (Dioscorea polygonoides) (ITIS) is known to possess potent antidiabetic and hypocholesterolemic properties and can therefore be exploited for associated nutraceutical/pharmaceutical purposes...
Optimization of Neutral Comet Assay for studying DNA double-strand breaks in pea and wheat
This study describes an adaptation of the Comet assay under neutral conditions for mono- and dicotyledonous plants pea (Pisum sativum L.) and wheat (Triticum aestivum L.). Modifications concern lysis and electrophoresis...
Myostatin gene (MSTN) polymorphism with a negative effect on meat productivity in Dzhalginsky Merino sheep breed
One of the most important negative regulator of muscle grow in mammalians is myostatin. Some mutations in myostatin gene (MSTN) can decrease the effect of protein and play role in meat quality of sheep. Therefore,...
Evaluation of dietary supplementation of B vitamins and HMBi on fermentation kinetics, ruminal or post-ruminal diet digestibility using modified in vitro techniques
The effects of dietary supplementation of HMBi, alone or in combination with B vitamins were investigated on fermentation characteristics and in vitro ruminal and post-ruminal digestion using three modified techniques. A...
Aberrant signature patterns of ATM, γ-H2AX and p53 proteins in the patients exposed to methyl isocyanate diagnosed with gallbladder cancer
Cancer of gallbladder is a hidden phenomenon and highly malignant with underprivileged diagnosis and poor survival. Study of cancer patterns amongst victims of Bhopal gas tragedy exposed to methyl isocyanate reveal...
