Comparative analysis of the economic situation in Polish regions in the period of time 2006–2012

Abstract
A characteristic feature of the modern conditions of regional development are differences in the potential of the Polish regions. In recent years, it is particularly important not only to analyse the size and economic reasons for the existing inconsistencies observed between regions, but also the changes observed over time. Therefore, the article, based on the theoretical determinants of regional development, is devoted to present the results and conclusions of the study of Polish regions to determine their economic potential and the causes of diversity in this area. The results of empirical research allowed to indicate considerable variation among the Polish regions, but it should be noted that the observed diversity of the economic situation during investigated years did show a downward trend.
