Energetic Safety and Economic Rationality in The Sector of Hard Coal Mining
Journal Title: Zarządzanie i Finanse - Year 2013, Vol 11, Issue 4
Abstract
The purpose of the hereby article is to present the assumptions of main-taining energetic safety in Poland in the context of economic-financial condition of the largest Polish producer of hard coal. The article is divided into three parts, preceded by introduction and ended with conclusions. In the first part there were the assumptions included about two basic acts regulating activity in the mining industry, that is „Energetic policy of Poland until the year 2030” and „Strategy of hard coal mining activity in Poland in the years 2007-2015”. Next, searching for an answer to the question: Is hard coal a sufficient resource for securing energetic needs in Poland?, there were the optional forecasts pre-sented concerning extraction of this resource in a perspective up to the year 2030. In the third part of the article there were additionally considerations made over economic rationality of conducting extraction in the enterprises where not very efficient industrial restructuring has been proceeded for many years. On the basis of conclusions from the conducted considerations and research it may be stated that energetic safety, understood as continuity and sufficiency of hard coal supplies for the energetic industry, is guaranteed up to the year 2030. However, economic-financial situation of the largest Polish producer of hard coal does not provide fulfillment of economic rationality requirement at the same time.
