OPTIMIZATION OF THE METHODS OF TREATMENT OF DENTAL POSTEXTRACTIONAL ALVEOLITIS

Abstract
The purpose of the study was to determine the frequency and etiologic factors involved in the development of alveolitis and to improve the effectiveness of healthcare provided to these patients by optimizing the treatment methods. The study included 241 patients undergoing dental extractions, of which 8 cases were diagnosed with postextractional dental alveolitis. The treatment applied to these patients included the removal of the contents from the alveolus and alveolar lavage with antiseptic solutions, followed by minimally invasive curettage of the alveolar walls until bleeding occurs. As a result, the incidence of alveolitis constituted 3,3%; a high frequency being recorded in women (75%). Location of alveolitis in the mandible was recorded in 87% of cases and an increased incidence of the wet form accounted for 87%. Analysis of the etiopathogenic factors involved in the development of alveolitis showed a predominance of the traumatic factor (62,5%). The proposed method of treatment involves a high degree of safety, evidenced by the presence of biological, economic and ergonomic effect.
