Role of the Central Bank in the Time of the Banking Crisis on the Example of the Central Bank of Iceland. Conclusions for Poland

Abstract
The article constitutes the attempt to present the role of the central bank can play during the banking crisis, turning into the financial and economic crisis. Discussions are based for experience of the Central Bank of Iceland after 2001. The text is pointed at the way of formulating the purpose and presents a set of tools for its implementation as well as the course of the crisis. Particular attention was paid to the non-standard nature of the action taken. Contained in this paper conclusions indicate the need for discussion on the modification used in many countries of the monetary policy strategy based on direct inflation target.
