Journal Title: Asian J of Pharm Sci & Tech - Year 2014, Vol 4, Issue 1

Abstract

ABSTRACT The sample for the study constitutes Sargassum wightii from brown seaweed phaeophytae. The antifungal activity was studied from the methanol extracts of macro algae Sargassum wightii against few funguses like Aspergillus niger, Candida albicans, Cunninghamella bertholetiae, aspergillus flavus, Mucor hiemalis and Trichophyton violaceum. The maximum activity has showed methanol extract of Sargassum wightii against Trichophyton violaceum and the minimum activity was recorded Aspergillus flavus compared with standard antifungal drugs. The result obtained with methanol extract of Sargassum wightii whole plant was exhibited significant antifungal activity. Key words: Antifungal activities, Methanol extract, Sargassum wightii.
