The Effect of Project Based Learning Approach to theAcademic Achievement of Prospective Teachers ofScience Education Department towards Biology Lesson

Abstract

 In this study, Science Education Department of prospective teachers selected topics on biology. We evaluated if project-based learning approach in teaching biology made an effect on the candidates’ academic achievement, project creation process, the products of the project, and science process skills. In this research survey and trial models was used incorporation, and the data was collected by using four different measuring tools: Candidate Personal Information Form, the Biology Achievement Test, the Form on Project Proposal, and Project Presentation Observation Scale. We used one-way ANOVA, t-test -for dependent groups- and ttest- for independent groups to analyze the data collected. The arithmetic mean ( ), standard deviation (s.d), frequency (f), percentage (%) values were calculated. As a result, Project-based learning approach in teaching biology didn’t make an effect on the prospective teachers’ academic achievement.
