Peer Bullying in Primary Education

Abstract
The aim of this study is to identify the types of bullying encountered byprimary school 8th graders. Its population consists of 8th graders attending theprimary schools located in the province of Elazığ during the term of 2009-2010 school year. The sample consisted of 404 students selected randomly from a total of 15 primary schools, which were also selected randomly from among the 97 schools in the study population. A total of 201 questionnaires which were returned by these students were analyzed. The most common types of bullying behaviors encountered by students were verbal and physical bullying. Boys students more exposed to peer bullying than girls students.
