Towards improvement of financial education in EU during the global financial crisis

Abstract
Financial education of the society plays a very important role, both from the perspective of a household and the whole economy. The ongoing global financial crisis has limited the activities undertaken to improve financial education and awareness. This may have negative consequences not only for households, but also for the development of the financial services market. The paper consists of four parts. The first part shows the main issues related to financial education included in the "Green Paper" of 2007, the second - shows the importance of financial education. Part 3 and 4 refer respectively to recommendations for dissemination and the evaluation of the activities undertaken in the area of financial education since 2007.
