Journal Title: Revista de Estudios Marítimos y Sociales - Year 2011, Vol 4, Issue 4

Abstract

The presence and development of the primary - exporting economic model in the south of Chile has re-articulated the territory, which has not gone unnoticed in the social reality, on the contrary, has generated transformations in the local actors and his socioeconomic dynamics. The study contemplates three rural localities in Chiloé Island, our territorial unit of analysis, placing the attention on the impact that supposes the industrial activity of salmon in the dynamics of these localities, and as this it demonstrates in politic conflicts derived from the relation between local territories and the Neoliberal model.
