NEOLOGISMS AS STYLISTIC UNITS

Abstract
The article deals with the description and analysis of multyfunctional character of neologisms taken from titles of Ukrainian internet on-line publications. It is established that the choice of certain neologism is strictly determined by the author’s intention. The most part of the empirical materials chosen for our research is the occasional units which reveals their expressive stylistic character in certain context and demonstrate their generative potential. Journalistic discourse is one of the spheres where stylistically marked linguistic units are being used by authors intending to express their pragmatic instructions, to grab the reader’s attention and reach the aim of information saturation and emotional expression. On the other hand, occasional units in the structure of on-line titles give the endless possibilities to transfer author’s thoughts wittily, logically, emotionally and associatively. These stylistic units also accumulate kind of semantic and extra linguistic information, illustrate the textual associative links and reconstitute the cognitive, creative level of author’s linguistic identity in the process of text activity. On the background of neutral stylistic units the occasionalisms demonstrate their ability to be so called stylistically marked units and in this respect to be perceived by any addressee like the units of emotional, expressing, estimating and evaluative nature.
