NEOLOGY OF MODERN UKRAINIAN POLITICAL DISCOURSE: GENERAL TRENDS

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to outline definite trends of the Ukrainian language functioning in political discourse at the lexical and grammatical levels. For the research we used texts and media appearances and speeches of political figures, published from 2013 to 2014. In this paper, the term „neology” signifies the emergence of new linguistic phenomena and units in the system of the Ukrainian language and speech, which leads to differentiation of language and speech and enables innovation and expansion of neologic problems by attracting grammatical units and categories. Neology in political discourse signifies the emergence of new words and development of new linguistic phenomena in political speech, but attention is paid to grammatical features of political communication. The main trends of neology in the Ukrainian political communication states: axiology, resulting in large-scale event emotionally colored vocabulary on specific grounds, vulgarization of political discourse, manifested in attracting stylistically reduced vocabulary, enhancing the interactivity that implemented the dominant neologisms to describe a person, actualization of subjectivity and dynamic political discourse, rhetoric strengthening of political speech on the syntactic level.
