NEW CHITOSAN STRUCTURES IN THE FORM OF THE THERMOSENSITIVE GELS
Journal Title: Progress on Chemistry and Application of Chitin and its Derivatives - Year 2008, Vol 0, Issue
Abstract
Chitosan hydrogels can be formed at normal body temperature with the use of β-sodium glycerophosphate. An optimum deacetylation degree of chitosan to form a gel is around 80 - 90%. Chitosan solutions with high DD (97%) start gelling already at the temperature below 20 °C. An advantageous ratio of the amount of chitosan to β-disodium glycerophosphate is around 0.3 - 0.45. Thermosensitive gels can be formed from various salts (acetate, lactate).

ADSORPTION OF CADMIUM IONS ON CHITOSAN MEMBRANES: KINETICS AND EQUILIBRIUM STUDIES
The presence of toxic heavy metals in industrial wastewater is a serious pollution problem. The ability of chitosan membranes as an adsorbent for cadmium ions in aqueous solution was studied. Experiments were carried out...
CHITOSAN MICROSPHERES PREPARED BY MEMBRANE EMULSIFICATION FOR CHROMIUM REMOVAL FROM AQUEOUS SOLUTIONS
Chitosan is naturally abundant biopolymer that could be used as chelating sorbent for removal of metal ions from aqueous solutions. In this study the uniform-sized chitosan microspheres and their modified derivatives wer...
HETEROGENEOUS DEACETYLATION OF CHITIN DEGRADED WITH HYDROGEN PEROXIDE IN A MICROWAVE FIELD
Two-step procedure of obtaining chitosan with tailored properties has been elaborated. In the first step chitin from the shells of krill (Euphausia superba) and common shrimp (Crangon crangon [L.]) was subjected simultan...
WETTING PROPERTIES OF CHITOSAN-MODIFIED AND PLASMA-TREATED PEEK SURFACES
In this paper, the wettability of chitosan/phospholipid (1,2-dipalmitoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine – DPPC), chitosan/lipid (cholesterol – Chol) and chitosan/protein (cyclosporine A – CsA) films on air plasma activated...
THE INFLUENCE OF THE ADDITION OF COLLAGEN ON THE RHEOLOGICAL PROPERTIES OF CHITOSAN CHLORIDE SOLUTIONS
Colloidal solutions of chitosan of crab origin with the addition of collagen obtained from cowhide were studied. Were presents the influence of collagen concentration and the method of preparing the sample on the obtaine...
