Abstract

The progressive aging of the population, while growth expectations for the quality of life of patients is the reason for growing interest in the development of new methods of treatment of presbyopy. Surgical treatment of presbyopia contains lens, cornea and sclera surgery. One of the most widely used method of treating presbyopia is lens surgery. Intense advances in technology in this field allows to create new, improved intraocular lens. There are two basic groups: multifocal lenses and accommodative lenses. The goal is to allow for good vision at all distances without glasses. Cornea Surgery includes PresbyLASIK and thermokeratoplasty. PresbyLASIK is one of the latest methods of treating presbyopia. It is based on various optical zones of the cornea created by laser ablation. The conductive keratoplasty uses the energy of radio frequency. Methods of surgical correction of presbyopia are discussed in this paper.
