New outlook for technology of medical laboratory test
Journal Title: Journal of Analytical Bio-Science - Year 2013, Vol 36, Issue 4
Abstract
The background for the technology of a medical laboratory test is very extensive. In this issue, a new outlook for the technology of medical laboratory tests is presented in five feature articles from various viewpoints. The first review article describes the validation of commercial reagent kits for clinical chemistry tests according to the guideline for the validation of quantitative measurements methods by the Committee on Quality Management of the Japan Society of Clinical Chemistry (2011). The second review article summarizes a policy for the best clinical laboratory methods in natural calamities. The third review article describes the specificity of the HTLV-I test. The fourth review article focuses on the stability of a commercial reagent kit for CK measurement. The fifth review article presents a new gene analysis for detection of mycoplasma pneumoniase and macrolide resistance by GENECUBE of automated gene analysis devise. We trust that these articles will provide useful information in the clinical laboratory field.

An international perspective on the derivation of reference intervals
International discussions on reference intervals (RI) date back to the late 1980s when the Expert Panel on a Theory of Reference Values in the IFCC elaborated the concept of reference values and methods for the derivatio...
Monomeric sarcosine oxidase acts on both L- and D-substrates
The stereoselectivity of monomeric sarcosine oxidase (mSox), an enzyme used for creatinine determination, was assayed by using N-methylalanine and proline. As a result, mSox reacted to both L- and D-substrates, although...
Lipophorin: lipid-transfer protein in insect blood
Lipophorin is one of the major lipoproteins in insect blood. It contributes to the transportation of several lipid classes. Its particle weight is about 600 k with two apolipoproteins, apoLp-Ⅰ and -Ⅱ (MW=250 k and 80 k,...
Influence of NaCl on a protein error in the presence of detergent
Influence of NaCl on the color development of protein error in the presence of detergent was investigated using three dyes (BPB, BCG and BCP) and detergents (Brij 35, Triton X-100 and Tween 20). The influence of NaCl on...
Retinol-binding protein-4
Retinol-binding protein (RBP) is one of the members of the lipocalin family, which binds and transports retinol (vitamin A). Recent studies revealed that RBP has several isoforms; cellular RBP-1, -2 and -3, and plasma RB...
