NOISE POLLUTION AND ITS IMPACT ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF MARINE LIFE

Journal Title: Innova Biology Sciences - Year 2021, Vol 1, Issue 2

Abstract

One of the main problems in recent years is environmental pollution. As a result of human activities, most of the pollutants that end up in some body of water are generated, including all the noise of human origin generated within marine environments as a product of various industrial activities, which is known as contamination. underwater acoustics. In this context, this article sought to explore the impact of underwater noise pollution on the life and development of marine creatures and the forms of mitigation that are being implemented to combat this situation. For this, a bibliographical research was carried out, in which databases were reviewed to collect relevant information on the subject. The research carried out found that, although industrial activities on the high seas that are beneficial for the development of the world economy have increased in recent years, for a long time the great impact of noise on the development of marine life was ignored, causing changes from in behavior, even damage to their physical integrity, and interfering with important daily activities such as communication, navigation or survival. It was concluded that it is important to prioritize studies aimed at obtaining information on the nature of underwater noise, the hearing capacity of different marine beings and the effects of underwater noise on them in order to implement efficient laws and regulations and adequately preserve ocean sounds.
