"NON-PARTY POLITICS: NEIGHBORHOOD OFFICES"; DOES A FACILITY FOR WOMEN'S POLITICAL PARTICIPATION? ELECTED AND CANDIDATE WOMEN NEIGHBORHOOD OFFICERS OF SAMSUN

Abstract

Presented article is to examine women’s political participation via neighborhood office which is currently elected and run for 30 March 2014 local elections in the city center of Samsun. The study is about why they choose the neighborhood office, the causes involved in, what they want to do and the difficulties and the advantages of being women. Basic question of the study is does neighborhood office important for increasing women's political participation and might be a way for entering politics. Findings of the study supports that being a woman has some advantages such as a non-party position of women, they can see it as one job, they can see neighborhood as an expanded home, they can enter with short training and less budget and, the study argue that neighborhood office is seen as an entry way for politics.
