NONEQUILIBRIUM TRIBOLOGY FRICTION INTERACTION OF FRIC-TION PAIRS OF BRAKING DEVICES (PART TWO)

Abstract

A robust approach to the analysis and design of band-shoe brake friction units of lifting and transportation equipment is based on forecasting processes, phenomena and effects accompanying their friction pairs. It includes the state of their surface and subsurface layers relating to the quality of friction surfaces, durability and stabilization of operating parameters. In addition, it is observed regulation and control of operating parameters at electro-thermo-mechanical friction. The paper examines the quality of friction unit transition processes, durability, stabilization, regulation and control of operating parameters as well as the optimization of brake friction pair design and operating parameters. As a result of different energy levels of surface and subsurface layers of metal-polymer friction pairs, in the stages of the electro-thermo-mechanical friction phenomenon superpositions and fallouts originate, develop and occur in some sequence and with special transition processes and principles, and thus there occur changes of current lines, dynamic, electric, magnetic, thermal and chemical fields. Micro-projections of friction pairs are broached that affects the contact patches and contributes to their fatigue failure and subsequent separation of the friction material lining.
