Nonparaphilic behaviors in patients with mental illness and insanity, Bogotá, 2014.

Abstract

Objective. Assess behaviors paraphilic population classified as inimputable, to improve the knowledge gap in the relation­ ship: lnimputability and Paraphilic behaviors. Methods. A prevalence study using an instrument designed to measure paraphilic behaviors in patients attending the pro­ gram inimputables was made; paraphilic rate was calculated and behaviors by age group, diagnosis, sexual orientation and stratified contravention; as an outcome behaviors para­ philic rate was determined by specific pathology; to numerical variables were calculated measures of central tendency and dispersion, to categorical proportion, with their respective CI 95% . Results . 53 patients with inimputables condition were iden­ tified, 18 were excluded; AII patients were male, mean (SO) age 42 (12) years, the most common psychiatric diagnoses among patients with paraphilic behaviors were schizophrenia (34,8%), followed by mental retardation and brain damage disorders (17,4%, respectively). The most common offenses were having sex with under 14 and homicide (30%, respecti­ vely). The most common paraphilic behaviors in this popula­ tion were voyeurism (17,3%), fetishism (17,3%) and pedophi­ lia (11,5%). The group of schizophrenic patients showed the highest rate of paraphilic behaviors (55,8%; CI 95%, 42,3% to 69,3%) compared with the remaining patients with sorne type of psychiatric pathology. Conclusion. New knowledge about the sexual behavior of the population of hospitalized patients, classified as inimputables was obtained. The approach should be improved from the time of first contact with the patient, expanding the anamnesis in personal and sexual history determining potential conflicts
