Numerical Research of Cooling Module Aerodynamic Noise

Abstract

Whether the radiator and other components could be ignored in the noise prediction process of cooling module was difficult to calculate. Firstly,the flow field model of equivalent porous media was made. The large eddy simulation( LES) was used to analyse the inlet flow uniformity and turbulence,and to calculate the urbulent kinetic energy and vorticity around the fan. The main noise source was identified by vortex sound theory. Then the acoustic boundary element method( BEM) model was established for discrete and broadband aerodynamic noise of cooling module. The three-dimensional sound field prediction and sound pressure spectrum were analyzed. Finally,the noise test was made. The results show that the radiator and other components have a large influence on the inlet flow turbulence and noise prediction which can not be ignored in the aerodynamic noise calculation process.
