O ENSINO DE LÍNGUA ESTRANGEIRA EM FOZ DO IGUAÇU: POR UMA POLÍTICA SENSÍVEL À TRÍPLICE FRONTEIRA.

Abstract
One of the distinctive characteristics of Foz do Iguaçu city, located in Paraná state, Brazil, is the linguistic diversity. In spite of the frontier with Argentina and Paraguay as well as the multilingualism of such region, English is the foreign language predominantly taught in the elementary public schools, due to the status of international lingua franca, and whose domains in the city are related to tourism and international relations. This article aims to discuss the offering and promotion of English as a leading foreign language in the schools, by taking into consideration the language attitudes, the policies for implementation of Spanish in regular education and the needs of the Three-Frontier context.
