Optimization of design solutions of metal constructions of berthing gallery

Abstract

When designing berthing gallery to save steel, the optimization has been made, such as the reduction of cross-sections of individual elements of load-bearing constructions and the adoption of new design solutions of ties. Berthing gallery is a horizontal, partially closed, unheated, frame construction 254,4m long, 4m wide in the axes of supports and 13,13m high to the top of joists and 20,025m to the top cover. The framework is based on the lateral frames, projected in increments of 4.8, 9.6 and 12 m; consisting of flat supports supporting span constructions and a canopy covering the conveyor mounted on the top of the load-bearing constructions of the beam cell. The survey results indicate that the overall technical condition of the examined object can be described as “satisfactory”, and steel structures correspond to the structural scheme presented in the working draft. To assess the bearing capacity of structures spatial calculation model was made. The calculation results with the use of “LIRA CAD” software package indicate that the bearing capacity of individual elements of lattice frame overhang and the gallery supports is not provided. To provide the bearing capacity of berthing gallery constructions, they have to be reinforced.
