Organizacja pomocy medycznej w zdarzeniach z wielką liczbą poszkodowanych – ćwiczenia DRIVER

Journal Title: Na Ratunek - Year 2018, Vol 1, Issue 1

Abstract

Due to unexpected course of events, as well as the need to introduce unusual procedures, mass casualty incidents and disasters, which put life and health of a large number of people in danger, have greatly challenged emergency medical services. These incidents serve as a test of cooperation among numerous services and institutions. The European project named DRIVER, focused on developing new solutions to enhance crisis management, enables services participating in mass events to train and develop good practices in emergency aid. This project comprised international training (Polish participants included) in mass emergency operation at sea between 26 and 28 April 2016. 850 simulated casualties were given emergency aid during the event, which later broke new ground in giving real multipatient emergency aid by the Provincial Emergency Medicine Station in Olsztyn.
