Organization 2.0: myth, reality or necessity?

Journal Title: International Journal of Contemporary Management - Year 2012, Vol 11, Issue 3

Abstract

In this paper an attempt was made to present new organizational solutions which occur in the literature of objects under the name Organization 2.0. The use of numbering applied in computer science stresses the connection between contemporary organizations and digital technology and unambiguously suggests that it concerns a new, innovative organization of the second generation. It has to be emphasized that digital technology is only treated as a tool on the basis of searching innovative solutions, concerning practically all dimensions of ac¬tions. It is seen clearly when showing features of Organization 2.0 like: perfection, nimble-ness, innovation, transparency, cooperation, networking, dispersion, decentralization, intelli-gence and trust. Simply speaking, organizations that+ act in a modern way, use IT techno-logy to improve internal processes, configure effective systems of relations with external surroundings and finally to create the new organizational culture. The analysis of the contemporary market permits us to evaluate the idea of Organiza-tion 2.0 as not only an abstract, theoretical construction, but also as a more frequently occurred reality of modern companies. It is expected that the action as described in the idea of Organiza¬tion 2.0 will be more and more popular because organizations willing to survive on contemporary, global and turbulent markets have to function while being based on entirely different rules from those used until now. It has to be also stressed that restructuring the traditional company into Organization 2.0 is an extremely difficult challenge faced by manag¬ers from all over the world.
