Organization and activities of the Bar Association and the Notary Office of the Polish General Governorship during the Second World War (1939–1945)

Abstract

The seizure process of Polish lands by the Nazi Third Reich during the Second World War and the establishment of the Polish General Governorship in the districts of Krakow, Warsaw, Lublin and Radom are highlighted in article. After the beginning of the German-Soviet war and the occupation of Ukrainian lands, the Galicia district was included in its composition. The organization and structure of the German occupation courts operating in the Polish General Governorship is analyzed. The activities of the German bodies of notary and lawyers, as well as Polish and Ukrainian lawyers, who could take part in meetings of non-German courts, that mainly focused on civil cases are shown.
