ORGANIZATIONAL AND EDUCATIONAL DIRECTIONS OF THE ACTIVITY OF THE HEAD OF SCHOOL: HISTORICAL ASPECTS

Abstract

The article analyzes the organizational and educational activities of the school principal in the second half of the twentieth century, which was an important part of the development of the whole system of education. During the studied period, the various aspects of the work of the school principal were actively developed; its functions were determined; the model of the school principal was analyzed; the necessary personality traits of the school head were determined and summarized; the strategic tasks of the educational establishments under the direction of the school principal were developed. The article attempts to analyze the functions of the school principal; the specificity of the educational management in the educational retrospective; determine the priority tasks of the school head; to substantiate the specifics of social changes that influence the reform of the school and the place of the director’s personality; identify and predict the main strategic directions of the school head’s activities, etc. The author highlights the questions of studying and dissemination of advanced pedagogical experience, which was the subject of pedagogical activity of V. Sukhomlynskiy, whose long experience as a school principal gave the scientist, teacher-practitioner the opportunity to define the main priorities not only in the work of the head of the educational institution, but also to give predictive evaluations of the implementation of the organizational and educational function of the teacher. It has been proved that in the field of vision of the school principal there was always a level of the theoretical and methodological training of teachers, their ability to accumulate and use the best examples of educational and educational work. It was investigated that the main characteristics of the school principal of the studied period were such as: pedagogical literacy; comprehensive development; the ability to clearly see the prospects of the school and the teaching staff; designing ways of growth and vision of ways of improving the skill of each teacher. The mentioned problems are also relevant today in view of the reform of the modern school on the basis of the Concept “New Ukrainian School”.
