A intenção deste trabalho é investigar na obra Os Maias, a partir do último capítulo, as revelações, as confirmações ou as quebras de expectativa criadas na primeira leitura ou provocadas pela leitura em retrospectiva. Irata-se de uma análise basicamente textual, a partir de pressupostos da Estética da Recepção.
