OSTAP LUTSKY IS AN IDEOLOGUE AND ORGANIZER UKRAINIAN COOPERATIVE MOVEMENT

Abstract

The article analyzes the process of formation and transformation of socio-political views and beliefs of a well-known public figure Ostap Lutskyi, it is defined the main priorities of his socio-political activity. It is found out the role of O. Lutskyi in shaping the formations of the economic-legal concept of national cooperation in Western Ukraine during the interwar period of the ХХ century it is characterized and the evolution of his views on the purpose and tasks of the Ukrainian cooperative movement. The content of O.Lutskyi’s theoretical works, which was the ideological basis for the successful development of Ukrainian cooperation in Western Ukraine in the 1920–1930’s, was introduced and this entered the name of the statesman to the cohort of theorists of Ukrainian cooperation. It is examined O. Lutskyi’s activity as a leader and active participant of a number of cooperative institutions: RSUC – the central cooperative association of Ukrainian cooperatives; “Tsentrosoiuzu” – the sup¬reme association of consumer cooperation; “Tsentrobanku” – the organizational and audit center of Ukrainian credit cooperation. The contribution of the statesman to the coordination of labor of certain types of cooperation, planning of the work of the cooperative system, headed by the RSUC, and the establishment of a cooperative education system is illustrated in this article as well. The attention was paid to the participation of O. Lutskyi in political life. As an active member of the Ukrainskoho natsionalno-demokratychnoho obiednannia (UNDO), Ambassador (1928, 1930) and Senator (1935) of the Parliament of the Роland, the Commonwealth policy defended the achievements of Ukrainians in the economic, cultural and educational spheres. It was noted that O. Lutskyi’s parliamentary activity was particularly active in defense of Ukrainian cooperation. It is determined the place of Ostap Lutskyi in the public-political life of Western Ukraine. It was proved that the priority direction of his activity was the development of Ukrainian national life and protection of political, economic and cultural achievements of Ukrainians.
