Overloading coefficients of cantilever span support
Journal Title: Roads and Bridges - Drogi i Mosty - Year 2010, Vol 9, Issue 2
Abstract
Safety analysis of cantilevered bridges can be applied to spans and supports. The paper concerns effects of overloading of temporary supports, usually used for erecting concrete cantilevered spans. Influence of selected factors is considered on the example of bridge, built in Kędzierzyn-Koźle. The length of the main span of this prestressed concrete box girder bridge is 140 m. Supports of the structure are loaded untypically, due to skewness of the bridge. Proposed span overloading coefficients are used for evaluation of structure safety in erection stage. In the paper design solutions of dead load asymmetry (arrangement of cable anchorages along the span length), influence of random factors (segment cross-section dimensions assumed as random variables) and segment concreting asymmetry are considered. Different coefficients of segment and cantilever overloading are distinguished. The first one usually have greater values, than calculated on their basis global value for the whole cantilever.

Fatigue assessment procedure for metal bridge decks
Deck slabs are the most vulnerable elements of bridges. In case of metal decks (steel, aluminium) the frequently observed damage is due to fatigue cracks. Therefore a fatigue assessment procedure is important in design o...
Verification of the method of estimating bending moments in soil-shell structures on the basis of shell deformation
The paper concerns soil-shell bridge structures of arch cross-section made from corrugated plates. During backfilling the shell crown is deflected upwards and the sides move inwards at the shoulder (haunch) level. The me...
Comparative analysis of deflections and strains of two road pavements with high traffic load
The paper concerns the comparison of deflections and key strains when dimensioning of two variants of the flexible road pavement loaded with heavy traffic, differing only in the thickness of the asphalt base course. The...
Comparative analysis of strains and durability of asphalt pavement of perpetual and standard type
This paper analyses the key strains and fatigue performance of the following types of road pavements using fatigue cracking and subgrade rutting as the evaluation criteria: conventional asphalt pavement and pavement stru...
