Parental Involvement in Learning Delivery Modalities and Its Relationship to Grade 6 Pupil Performance in TLE
Journal Title: Psychology and Education: A Multidisciplinary Journal - Year 2022, Vol 6, Issue 2
Abstract
The study aimed to assess the relation of parental involvement in learning delivery modalities and the performance of Grade 6 pupils in TLE of Puray Elementary School during the school year 2021 -; 2022. The respondents of the study were the thirty (30) parents and thirty (30) pupils which was randomly selected from grade 6 who are currently enrolled in the modular learning. The researcher used simple random sampling technique specifically the fishbowl technique in choosing the respondents. The findings revealed that parents are "highly involved" in learning modalities among grade six pupils in terms of involvement during school-related activities, time spent with children, methods of discipline, participation in meetings, conferences, or services, and parental skills and practices in teaching. Furthermore, the majority of pupil-respondents (f = 14, 47%) received a satisfactory rating. Finally, there is a significant relationship between parental involvement in learning modalities and grade six pupils' performance in TLE subjects, as the obtained p-value of 0.00 does not exceed the 0.05 level of significance, and thus the null hypothesis is rejected. This could imply that parental involvement in learning modalities was significantly related to students' TLE performance. This implies that parental involvement in school-related activities, time spent with children, methods of discipline, participation in meetings, conferences, or services, and parental skills and practices in teaching all have an impact on pupils' performance. Pupils struggle with self-paced learning because they don't understand the terms, activities, learning tasks, and other issues that they encountered. The study is holistic it seems that it concerned with the improvement of pupils' performance through the parental involvement that could help teachers in nurturing and educating the pupil's intellectual, emotional, and social potentials even they are experiencing health crisis.
