Abstract
The considerations in the article are a part of the issue of raising the quality of schools including the care for the professional approach to the role played by teachers. The basis of the foregoing observations are test results on determinants of success of professional teachers acquired by the Author. In the first place, with regard to favorable conditions for achieving success by teachers, the issue of passion in the teacher work was taken. Subsequently, attention to the role of emotions in relation to teachers with passion and emotional competence of teachers was paid. In the fi nal part of the article arguments for the need to develop emotional competence of teachers in the course of teacher education was presented.
