Journal Title: The Journal of International Social Research - Year 2017, Vol 10, Issue 49

Abstract

Innovation is very important for companies to create value and competitive advantage. Whether there is an effect on the economic performance of firms the effect of patent, which is a safeguard tool that helps to benefit from innovations and encourages making other innovations, has been analyzed through the data of companies in Turkey. A statistically significant relationship was found between the number of patents and the firms' ability to increase employment and exports. In terms of negative financial performance in the short term, it is thought that firms may have a delayed effect due to certain factors.
