PECULIARITIES AND VALUE OF POLITICAL OPPOSITION IN STRUCTURATION AND INSTITUTIONALIZATION OF POLITICAL REGIMES OF THE VISEGRAD GROUP COUNTRIES (1989-2017): COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS
Journal Title: Вісник Львівського університету - Year 2017, Vol 14, Issue
Abstract
The article analyzes the peculiarities and significance of the political opposition in the processes of structuring and institutionalizing the political regimes of the Visegrad group countries in 1989–2017. It was argued that due to the influence of the political opposition and protest movements in the Visegrad countries, they initially ceased to be autocratic, later transformed into hybrid and even later into democratic ones. The researcher recorded that the transformation of the opposition from the pre-institutional phenomenon (in the form of sociopolitical protest) into an institutional phenomenon (in the form of a political institution) was one of the key values in this process. It has thus been proved that the process of the political opposition becoming more constructive is the condition for the establishment of a consolidated democracy.
