Performance of Jet Refrigeration Cycle Using R1234yf as Alternative Refrigerant

Abstract
The jet refrigeration cycle with refrigerant R134 a could obtain high cycle performance,but it would gradually be restricted or be substituted by environment-friendly refrigerants due to its high global warming potential( GWP) value. This paper proposed the low GWP R1234 yf as the alternative refrigerant of the jet refrigeration cycle( JRC). A mathematical model for each component of the JRC was developed. Based on the thermodynamic model of each component,the influences of evaporating temperature,condensing temperature and generating temperature on the entrainment ratio of the ejector,cooling capacity and coefficient of performance( COP) were evaluated in the JRC by using the R1234 yf,R134a and R600 a as refrigerants. The results indicate that maximum entrainment ratio of the ejector and cooling capacity can be achieved in the JRC by using R1234 yf,but the COP of JRC is 7% lower than that by using R134 a and is 20. 2% higher than that by using R600 a. The cycle performance of JRC with R1234 yf is close to that with R134 a and obviously better than that with R600 a.
