PHARMACEUTICO-ANALYTICAL STUDY OF NIRJAL NARIKEL LAVANA

Abstract
In Ayurveda pharmaceutics broad spectrum of dosage form were mentioned. In it lavana kalpana is one where lavana (salt) is the main ingredient in the formulation. It is prepared by combining lavana along with herbomineral component (Narikel) and subjecting to heat. Narikellavana has been advised under the rogadhikara of Parinaamshula. Acharya have explained two separate methods of preparation of Narikellavana-Sajala (retaining the water inside coconut) Nirjala (without coconut water). To differentiate samyoga and samskara Narikel Lavana was prepared by using combination of charred coconut and lavana and Narikel Lavana (Nirjala)(NNLA) prepared by puta method. Samyoga method (NLB) is less time consuming, easy to prepare and cost effective Narikel Lavana prepared by sanskara require more time and more heat up to 8000C and more expenditure. Maximum temp. Achieve during preparation of Narikel Lavana (Nirjala) was 750-8000C which maintain approximately half an hour. Even though Narikel Lavana prepared by both method has same organoleptic parameter there is difference found in the chemical elements which was seen in the flame photometry, FTIR spectroscopy, XRD.
