Journal Title: Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research - Year 2009, Vol 1, Issue 4
Abstract
Ixora coccinea LInn. is traditionally found to be useful for many ailments like hepatoprotective, chemoprotective, antimicrobial, antioxidant, antinociceptive and anti-inflammatory activities. The present study highlights the botanical as well as phytochemical studies including parameters such as macroscopic, microscopic characters, physiochemical evaluation and preliminary phytochemical studies of the leaves. These observations will help in the botanical identification and standardization of the drug in the crude form and also to distinguish the drug from its adulterants.
