Phraseological Units with the Components of Beverages Names in the Ukrainian Language

Abstract
In the article the semantic and ethnocultural analysis of the phraseological units with the components of beverages names in the Ukrainian language are introduced. Up to the present day, these phraseological units have not been the object of the linguists’ investigations and that is the actuality of the research. The material of the research is the phraseological dictionaries of the Ukrainian, Russian and Belarusian languages. The scientific methods of description, analysis and comparison were used to determine, systemize, and classify the semantic and ethnocultural peculiarities of the Ukrainian phraseological units with the components of beverages names and to compare them in the kindred languages. Two groups of the phraseological units with the components of beverages names were differentiated: 1) the phraseological units with the components of the alcohol beverages: hop, vodka, honey, beer; 2) the phraseological units with the components of the alcohol free beverages: milk, kvass, tea. The analysis of the above mentioned phraseological units was done and their semantics, national and cultural specificities were determined. As a result it was proved that the phraseological units with the components of beverages names make quantitatively big and semantically various layer. Such diversity of the meanings of the phraseological units with the components of beverages names proves that for Ukrainians beverages is one of the most important elements of everyday life. The investigation of the ethnocultural peculiarities of the phrases with the components of beverages names has proved that these language units identify Ukrainian national and cultural food traditions and represent the world view and the way of life of the whole nation.
