Abstract

Introduction: Malnutrition is a disease that affects the general population especially to children under five years of age, altering its proper functioning in growth and development. There are many factors that lead to child malnutrition, including socioeconomic factors, lack of knowledge by mothers or caregivers. Objective: To validate the instrument designed to evaluate the factors that influence child malnutrition. Determine the factors that influence child malnutrition in children under 5 years of age, in rural areas of the Simón Bolívar canton. Materials and Methods: An investigation was used, quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional, exploratory, descriptive and correlational to obtain the data of the present investigation; for validation of questionnaire was carried out under the judgment of experts, an interview was conducted with saturation, a validated questionnaire was used and the pilot plan was carried out in a part of the sample chosen for the investigation. Results: After the respective validation of the quantitative instrument by the experts, a score of 95.46 was obtained from reliability, in the pilot plan applied to 17 participants on the factors that influence child malnutrition in children under 5 years of age, there are different results in percentages. Conclusions: Once the pilot plan was carried out, it was obtained that the factors that influence child malnutrition are: socioeconomic, demographics, level of knowledge of mothers or caregivers and eating habits; Therefore, it must be applied to the entire population under study, to take corrective actions. in improving the health of children under 5 years of age.
