Początki historii zastosowania lasera CO2 w chirurgii krtani w Polsce

Abstract
Chirurgia laserowa CO2 w krtani jest związana z prof. Gezą Juliusem Jako, który jako pierwszy w 1972 r. opisał kliniczne wyniki zastosowania lasera CO2 u chorych. W Polsce po raz pierwszy 28 kwietnia 1983 r., w Katedrze i Klinice Otolaryngologii Akademii Medycznej w Warszawie (obecnie WUM), użyto lasera CO2 w operacji krtani jako „noża chirurgicznego”. Laser, który powstał w Instytucie Elektroniki Kwantowej Wojskowej Akademii Technicznej w zespole prof. Zbigniewa Puzewicza, dzięki staraniom ówczesnego kierownika Kliniki prof. Grzegorza Janczewskiego został przekazany do celów naukowych i leczniczych Klinice. Pionierami chirurgii laserowej krtani w Polsce byli Zbigniew Sonnenberg, Ryszard Połubiński i Jadwiga Osuch.
