POETIC PROPER NAMES OF GERMAM FOLK AND LITERARY TALES

Abstract
The article focuses on the analysis of the peculiarities of poetic proper names in German folk and literary tales. The author analyzes the patterns of formation of onymsand their functioning in German tales beingpredetermined by genre and stylistic dominant of tale and author’s intentions. According to the results of the research, it has been suggested that the most frequently used types of onyms in German folk and literary tales are personal names. They are usually formed with the help of suffixes and stem-composition. Personal names endow tales with expressive meaning and additional imagery that can be concisely determined with the help of context of a tale. The article also deals with specific type of onyms, namelymythonyms.
