Populus bolleana Lanche in Urban Plantations of Industrial Towns in Southeast Ukraine
Journal Title: Darnios aplinkos vystymas - Year 2017, Vol 1, Issue 14
Abstract
This paper presents data of the survey of Populus bolleana Lanche in urban plantations of industrial cities in the south east Ukraine. The study was focused on representation of this species in different structural and functional types of stands (parkland, mini-parks and roadside stands), age, viability, trunk morphometric parameters of Bolle's poplar trees. The species representation in plantations ranges from 0.6 % in parks to 6 % in roadside stands. Bolle's poplar trees found in urban plantations of investigated cities are aged 10 to 50 years. It is specified that with Populus bolleana in the age of 30 years old there appear the signs of aging and reduction of viability. In the course of investigation we came to the conclusion that the trees of Populus bolleana over the age of 40 in roadside plantings and 50 in parkland should be replaced by young plantlets.
