Portfolio as a method of forming the professional competence of the future doctor

Abstract

The article considers the professional competence of the future doctor as a part of the cognitive activity of the student of the medical university, aimed at the formulation and solution of specific educational tasks (cognitive, intellectual, research, etc.) that are implemented at the strategic, tactical and operational levels. It is noted that competence in medicine can be defined as the usual wise use of information, knowledge, technical skills, clinical thinking, feelings, ethical values and reflections in the daily practice for the benefit of society. The author investigated the competence of doctors and future doctor, considers the following components: medical knowledge, patient care, professionalism, awareness, interpersonal communicational skills, learning and continuous self-improvement. It is noted that portfolio plays a key role in determining the educational result of the formation of the professional competence of a future specialist, serves as a systematic and continuous assessment and self-assessment of student learning outcomes. The author focuses on the fact that the usage of the portfolio allows solving the following main tasks: to follow the growth of the level of professional training of the future doctor and evaluate his educational achievements, completing the traditional forms of control of innovation. In this case, different types of portfolio are distinguished, for example: portfolio of achievements, personal development portfolio, presentation portfolio, project portfolio, career development portfolio, review portfolios and others.
