POSSESSING USE OF PROSE IN MEHMET AKIF’S POETRY

Abstract

Mehmet Akif Ersoy is an outstanding intellectual and a man of letters with his poems and poet identity. He uses literature so to say poetry, as a means of reaching the public. Worrying and hurting Akif’s aim is to warn the public for the false westernization and superstitions and protecting the moral and national values. However, poetry is not very suitable to convey these kind of ideas.On one side his innate ability as a poet,on the other side his desire of reaching the public,Mehmet Akif who can not give up on poetry finds his way out in poetic story.As a result, prose language with its distinctive features take a prominent place in his poetry. In this study, primarily you are going to be informed about the prose language and the poetry language.Afterwords, questions regarding how and why Mehmet Akif uses prose language in his poetry are also going to be answered.
