Possible improvements in management of demand for electricity in Poland

Abstract
Returning to administrative system of limiting electricity consumption (i.e. power rationing levels), and the economic consequences of such situation for the whole country result from the failure to use methods of balancing the demand for electricity other than activities focusing on supply. The demand side management in the electricity sector consists in voluntary reduction of energy amount used by customers (usually at peak times) in return for appropriate financial consideration. Those customers decide to shift their demand for energy to off-hours. The paper also proposes to introduce market mechanisms to facilitate management of demand for electricity in Poland.
