Postcoital Transvaginal Evisceration After Hysterectomy: A Case Report

Journal Title: Journal of Clinical and Analytical Medicine - Year 2012, Vol 3, Issue 1

Abstract

Transvaginal evisceration is mostly seen at postmenopausal period in a case who had vaginal operation and at premenopausal period it ensues postcoitally after hysterectomy. A 47 year old patient presented to emergency department with a complaint of intestinal herniation through vagina after coitus that had total abdominal histerectomy two months ago. The patient was emergently operated. Her vaginal cuff was sutured transvaginally then laparoscopic irrigation and suction were performed. Although transvaginal cuff repair is sufficient laparoscopic irrigation and suction are thought to be relevant for the management of transvaginal evisceration to prevent peritonitis.
